We picked a range of hotels to accommodate all price ranges. We've visited all of these places
and can confirm that they are clean, safe, and close to the center of town. If you need help
making your reservation or have any questions, please contact Jim at info@meganjim2008.com.
Parador de Cuenca
In an effort to conserve some of Spain's most historic landmarks and promote tourism, King Alfonso XII
began the tradition of Paradors in 1928. These luxury hotels, run by the Spanish government, are restored
castles, Moorish fortresses, old palaces, ancestral mansions and various other impressive buildings located
throughout the country. The Parador de Cuenca is a former16th century convent located in a dramatic setting
overlooking the Huécar River gorge. This is your most expensive option but will provide an unforgettable
experience. The parador is also the location of our wedding ceremony and reception.

Posada de San Jose
You don't have to stay at the parador for outstanding accommodations in Cuenca. One of our favorite places
is the historic Posada de San Jose. Centrally located, charming, and spotless, the Posada de San Jose also
has some of the best food in the city. Unfortunately, they have very few rooms available at the moment. They
expect more to open up, but for now they only have singles and doubles without bathrooms (each room does
have a private sink/mirror). Bathrooms are shared and conveniently located a few steps down the hall.

Hotel Leonor de Aquitania
A new hotel located just up the street from Cuenca's Plaza Mayor (main square) and the Posada
de San Jose, Leonor de Aquitania is an ideal option if you want all of the conveniences of a modern
hotel, a great location, perhaps a view, and a good bargain!

Hostal Posada Huécar
A short walk downhill from the main square, Hostal Posada Huécar is located along the river right across from Cuenca’s Teatro-Auditorio. Rooms are basic but clean, and a good price. You can also rent mountain bikes here – see web site for more info. Note: last time Megan was there the lobby smelled kind of smoky, so if you’re not a smoker you might want to try a different option. You also have to walk up a hill to get to the main square.
Room rates per night (tax included):
Double: 48 €, Single: 28 €

Hostal Calderón
Also located down the hill in the newer part of town, Hostal Calderón is a four-story building close to the river with basic rooms and a really cute café/bar area. Definitely for the young and fit (there's steep climb to the center of town!).

Doubles and singles available from 50 – 70 €/night.
